Cookie Policy
1. What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device that help us provide a smooth, secure, and personalized experience. We use both "session" cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and "persistent" cookies (which remain on your device for a set period).
2. How We Use Cookies
Built In Public uses cookies for the following critical functions:
- Authentication: We use Supabase to manage your login session. This cookie is strictly necessary to keep you logged in as you navigate the platform.
- Referral Tracking: When you visit the site via a referral link (
?ref=username), we store a 30-day cookie (bip_referral) to ensure the correct builder gets rewarded Karma if you sign up. - Preferences: We may use cookies to remember your theme choice (Light/Dark mode) or feed sorting preferences.
3. Third-Party Cookies
We minimize the use of third-party cookies. However, some services we integrate may use their own cookies:
- Dodo Payments: Used to manage secure checkout sessions and prevent fraud during Karma purchases.
- Supabase: For cloud-based database and auth management.
4. Managing Cookies
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies in their settings. However, please note that blocking our strictly necessary authentication cookies will prevent you from using any part of the platform that requires a login.
5. Updates to this Policy
We may update this policy periodically as we add new features. Any significant changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
